Almost all canned foods contain some BPA, because BPA is used to lined with a BPA-containing resin. In many cases this is not a big issue – but with tomatoes it is.
Because tomatoes are very acidic, and that causes more of the BPA to get into the tomatoes that you’ll eat, rather than staying in the resin.
Our recommendation is to
- buy fresh tomatoes
- buy tomatoes in glass jars
- buy tomaties in BPA-free cardboard containers.
